Day 01
Ourika Valley and Berber Villages in the Atlas Mountains
- The excursion starts early in the morning from Marrakech. Head to Ourika, a splendid valley inhabited by the Berber population, who have maintained their customs and traditions intact through time.
- Our first stop will be at an extraordinarily beautiful panoramic viewpoint overlooking green fields of vegetables and cereals, forage, and, of course, olives, which are a typical product of the valley.
- Continue to visit a real Berber house to see how Berber people live today, with a mint tea break.
- After that, proceed to Setti-Fatma River. On the way, stop at an argan oil cooperative, where the women hand-crack the argan nuts between two stones, a technique they have used for centuries.
- Then, drive off-road along a mountain road, where a small walking trek of about 30 minutes is recommended in order to admire the beauty of Atlas nature, with its different colours - red, brown, and green - and its numerous villages, where the houses have the same colour as the hills because of the stones and clay used in the buildings.
- Next, head to a small village located at 1,800 metres in altitude for lunch in a traditional Berber house, close to the highest mountain in North Africa, known as the roof of Morocco and reaching 4,167 metres. Here, taste real Berber gastronomy, with a menu that includes Berber tagine, couscous, and fruits.
- Later, return to Marrakech via the Asni Valley and Tahnnaout Village to conclude the tour.
