Dublin's Musical History Through Song
- This exciting and original tour starts in the foyer of Leonardo Hotel, Christ Church in Dublin 8. You will be greeted by the tour manager and owner, who will inform you about the experience over the following two hours.
- Stop 1: The tour departs for its first location in the gardens of Christ Church Cathedral, across the road from the hotel. Here, you will learn about the first song and its relevance to the location.
- Stop 2: The tour then progresses down Dame Street to its second selected location, the historic Dublin Castle, where the song celebrates Ireland's struggle for Independence in the 1900s, in which Dublin Castle played a pivotal role.
- Stop 3: We continue along Dame Street to the statue of Dublin's most notorious daughter, Molly Malone, where we will learn this world-famous song.
- Stop 4: The tour then proceeds back to the other side of Dame Street to Ireland's most famous musical theatre, the Olympia, where we will hear one of Dublin's most renowned musical theatre ballads.
- Stop 5: The tour moves into Temple Bar and back onto the quays of the River Liffey to learn about the sad history of emigration to the New World through one of the songs dedicated to this story.
- Stop 6: We finish the tour at our last stop in Viking and Medieval Dublin, where you will hear about the Viking settlement in Wood Quay, what was found there, and how the Vikings lived in the city. The guide will show you some of the artifacts found and finish with a song or two. The guide might even throw in a few ghost stories for good measure. This is where we finish the tour and say our final goodbyes.
