Day 01
Atlas Mountains, Ourika Valley, and Berber Villages
- The excursion starts early in the morning from Marrakech, heading to Ourika, a splendid valley inhabited by the Berber population, who have maintained their customs and traditions through time.
- Our first stop will be an extraordinarily beautiful panoramic viewpoint over the green fields of vegetables and cereals, forage, and, of course, olives, which are a typical product of the valley.
- Then, continue to visit a real Berber house to see how Berber people live today, with a mint tea break. After that, we will go to the Setti-Fatma River.
- On our way, we will stop at the argan oil cooperative, where they hand-crack the argan nuts between two stones, a technique they have used for centuries.
- Next, drive off-road along a mountain road, where a short walking trek of about 30 minutes is recommended in order to admire the beauty of the Atlas nature, with its different colours - red, brown, and green - and numerous villages where the houses have the same colour as the hills because of the stones and clay used in the buildings.
- Afterwards, head to a small village located at 1,800 metres above sea level for lunch in a traditional Berber house close to the highest mountain in North Africa, known as the roof of Morocco, reaching 4,167 metres, and taste real Berber gastronomy. The menu includes a Berber tagine, couscous, and fruits.
- Later, return to Marrakech via the Asni Valley and Tahnnaout village.
