Day 01

Tinmel Mosque and Ouirgane Day Trip from Marrakech

1. Meet your tour guide at an agreed-upon location and begin the trip to the Tinmel Mosque, located in the High Atlas Mountains of North Africa. It was constructed in 1156 to commemorate the founder of the Almohad dynasty, Mohamed Ibn Tumart. It is one of only two mosques in Morocco open to non-Muslims, the other being the Hassan II Mosque in Casablanca.
2. Taking the R203 road toward Taroudant via Asni and Ouirgane, arrive at Tinmel, home of the Almohad dynasty. Here, you can still see parts of the medieval fortress, the royal necropolis shelters, the remains of the founder Abdel Moumen, and those of the spiritual master Ibn Toumert. The mosque has been recently refurbished and is a fine model of Almohad art.
3. On the return journey, stop in Ouirgane in the Atlas Mountains, considered a gastronomic destination, where you will stop for lunch.
4. Then continue the journey back to Marrakech, where the day trip ends.
