The itinerary

1
Day 01

Marrakech to Rose Valley via Tizi n'Tichka and Aït Ben Haddou

  • Depart Marrakech at 8:00 am and begin your journey to Dadès Gorges.
  • Cross the High Atlas Mountains to reach Tizi n'Tichka, one of Morocco's highest road passes at 2,260 m. Here, you will have the opportunity to take perfect photos of the breathtaking views.
  • Visit the village-kasbah of Aït Ben Haddou, recognized by UNESCO as a World Heritage Site. Many films were shot in this village, such as Gladiator, Lawrence of Arabia, Queen of the Desert, Kingdom of Heaven, Game of Thrones, and The Mummy.
  • Continue to the Valley of the Roses in Kelaa M'Gouna, known for the Festival of Roses and as the center of Moroccan roses and rose products. Persian roses are grown and harvested here to create rose water, creams, and soaps prized throughout Morocco and the world.
  • As soon as you arrive at your accommodation, you will be led through tiny family farm plots, where you will see locals picking figs for dinner and wander along the stream.

Day 02

Rose Valley to Erg Chebbi via Skoura, Dadès and Todgha

  • Have breakfast, then drive through the oasis of Skoura and enjoy the opportunity to explore the Kasbah of Amridil.
  • Travel through the Valley of Roses to Kalaa M'gouna, where you may, if you wish, visit a rosewater cooperative and learn how locals produce rosewater perfume essences.
  • Continue to the nearby Dadès Gorge, where you will be immersed in the valley's natural beauty. Enjoy seeing the amazing rock formation called the "Monkey Toes" and the still-standing 19th-century Kasbah Ait Yul.
  • Before heading towards the dunes of Merzouga, stop to check out the Todgha Gorge.
  • Stop at Rissani before completing the final stretch of your journey to the magical Sahara dunes, where camels will be awaiting you. You will be welcomed with a glass of mint tea before riding a camel towards your desert camp.

Day 03

Erg Chebbi and Merzouga to Fes via Ziz Valley, Azrou and Ifrane

  • Wake up early in the morning to enjoy the sunrise over the dunes of Erg Chebbi, possibly the best moment of the Merzouga desert tour.
  • After breakfast, make your way to Fes through the Ziz Valley and the cedar forest of Azrou.
  • See a colony of monkeys along the road, which will surely amuse you. There will be plenty of opportunities to stretch your legs, with stops for coffee, lunch, and photographs.
  • Reach Ifrane, known as the Switzerland of Morocco.
  • Drop off at your riad or hotel at around 6:00 pm in Fes.

Day 04

Guided Exploration of Fes Medina

  • Have breakfast, meet your local guide, and travel to the Old Medina, one of the world's largest walled cities.
  • Explore the narrow streets lined with fresh fruit, mounds of spices, intricately woven Berber carpets, and many other art objects of Morocco.
  • Visit the King's Palace, the tanneries, and the potters.
  • Enjoy your evening exploring the medina and the hustle and bustle of the street stalls.
  • Next, the tour will take you to Bab Boujloud, the Blue Gate, where you will discover the ancient streets and neighbourhoods, as well as Al-Qarawaiyin University. Founded in 864 AD and still in operation today, it holds the Guinness World Record as the oldest continually operating university in the world.
  • After exploring all that the medina has to offer, drive up for a panoramic view of the old city before returning to your riad or hotel in the evening.

Day 05

Fes to Chefchaouen via Volubilis

  • Have breakfast, then leave Fes and head to the blue city of Chefchaouen via Volubilis.
  • Explore this UNESCO World Heritage Site in North Africa and see the Roman ruins of Volubilis along with its well-preserved mosaics.
  • Arrive in Chefchaouen and explore the medina's white-and-blue-washed walls and markets offering unique native handicrafts. Chefchaouen is a fantastic destination for photography, with wonderful views of the Rif Mountains.

Day 06

Chefchaouen to Casablanca

  • Have breakfast at the hotel, then explore the blue city of Chefchaouen, known for its traditional buildings.
  • Visit Hassan II Mosque and the Old Medina.
  • Transfer to the airport or your hotel in Casablanca.
