8-Day Jebel Saghro Trek in Morocco through Berber Villages

• Arrival at Marrakech airport and transfer to Hotel Andalouss 4****.

Take a group meal together at the hotel.

Overnight: Marrakech / Dinner

• After breakfast, depart for the south of Morocco across the High Atlas Mountains via Tizi-n-Tichka Pass (2260 m), Morocco's highest road pass, to reach the south.
• Travel through Ouarzazate, Skoura, Roses Valley, and Dadés Valley.
• See wonderfully fortified villages en route to Tagdilt for an overnight stay in a simple village house - perfect for a cultural introduction, as well as the starting point for our walk the next day.

Overnight: Tagdilt / Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner

• After breakfast, meet our trekking crew, who will accompany us for the next few days; our luggage will be carried by our trusty mules.
• See the small oasis dotted with fields of barley and slopes of fig trees. The trail weaves through an incredible valley before we begin heading uphill onto the volcanic sides of the Saghro. This area is full of deep gorges and black rocky peaks, before hopefully passing a number of the Ait Atta nomadic camps and local shepherds with their grazing flocks.
• Take a little break before heading over Tizi Ouzarzam Pass (2300 m).
• After the descent, reach our camp and get prepared for our first exciting night under canvas.

• After a tasty camp breakfast, prepare for our ascent of Mount Kouaouche at 2500 m - one of the most prominent peaks of the Saghro mountains - with beautiful views over the south of Morocco and the High Atlas to the north.
• Descend to the campsite on the rocks of Igli.

Overnight: Igli / Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner

• Experience a total contrast from yesterday's summit attempt.
• Visit the beautiful Afourar Valley, with a small village near incredible rock formations. This is home to one of the famous tribes in the south of Morocco, the Ait Atta tribe. They are still traditionally nomadic, and the incredible landscape here is part of their lifestyle. Our campsite tonight is very close to Ali's Gate.

4 to 5 hours of walking.

Overnight: Bab-n-Ali / Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner

• Our journey today takes us along roads that are still used as trade routes with the neighbouring Sahara Desert.
• Pass through small villages, hamlets, and farms in the Ighazoun and Tawdachte valleys. The area is known for producing wheat, clover, carrots, henna, tomatoes, chillies, and orchards of almond trees.
• Overnight in a simple village house before heading back to Ouarzazate or Marrakech tomorrow.

Overnight: Tawdachte / Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner

• Make our final journey back to Ouarzazate or Marrakech.
• Head past the snow-capped Atlas peaks and across the Draa Valley.
• Stop briefly in Ouarzazate - 'the Hollywood of North Africa' - popular with moviemakers, with films such as Gladiator, Kingdom of Heaven, Lawrence of Arabia, and Prince of Persia all filmed here.
• Drive over Tizi n'Tichka Pass before our afternoon arrival in Marrakech.

Overnight: Marrakech / Breakfast, Lunch

Transfer to the airport.
