The itinerary

Day 01

Marrakech to Foussarou via Imlil

  • You will be picked up from your hotel or riad in Marrakech and driven to Imlil, the starting point of your trek.

  • Cross the Tizi-n-Tamatert (2279 m), which takes you to Tinoughrine and Ouneskra. Finally, reach the camp in Foussarou.

Day 02

Tizi-n-Likemt to Azib Likemt

  • Wake up early for a tough morning hike up to Tizi-n-Likemt (3550 m), which offers a panoramic view of the horizon. The descent is as long as the ascent. Have lunch at the campsite at Azib Likemt (2550 m).

Duration: 5-6 hour trek

Day 03

Across Tizi-n-Ouria to Amsouzart

  • Follow the Assif Tinzart upstream through a narrow gorge and cross the Tizi-n-Ouria (3109 m).

  • Descend to the valley floor in Amsouzart (1750 m).

Overnight in a gite.

Duration: 5-hour trek

Day 04

Trek to Lake Ifni and High Camp

  • Trek through a green and pleasant valley until you reach Lake Ifni.

  • Continue to a high camp (2295 m) after lunch and go for a swim in the lake.

Duration: 4-5 hour trek

Day 05

Tizi-n-Ouanoums and Toubkal Base Camp

  • Trek to one of the most spectacular pass crossings in the Atlas, Tizi-n-Ouanoums (3650 m).

  • Descend to the camp below Mount Toubkal, near the Neltner Refuge (3207 m).

Duration: 6-hour trek.

Day 06

Summit Jebel Toubkal and Return to Marrakech

  • After an early breakfast, set off on the steep ascent to the summit of Jebel Toubkal (4167 m), then return to camp for lunch.

  • Descend to Imlil in the afternoon and drive back to Marrakech.

Duration: 8-9 hour trek
