2-Day Mount Toubkal Trek from Marrakesh with Sunrise Summit

• Meet your tour guide upon arrival and start early in the morning from Marrakech.
• Head towards the High Atlas Mountains via Tahnaouet (local market on Tuesdays), the Ghighaya Valley, Moulay Brahim gorges, and Asni (market on Saturdays), then continue between terraced fields of vegetables and fruit trees, including walnuts and cherries.
• Arrive at Imlil at 1740 m and meet the trekking team for your Mount Toubkal summit trek: a Moroccan guide and muleteer.
• Trek between fields and the surrounding villages of Imlil along the Ait Mizane Valley, Taouerirte, Targa Imola, and Tagadirte.
• At 1900 m, head to the shrine of Sidi Chamharouch.
• Have lunch next to the river at 2500 m and continue climbing steadily to the Toubkal refuge at 3207 m through snaking and zigzagging mule tracks.

Overnight at the refuge.

Approx. 5h30 walking.

• Get an early start to catch the sunrise from the summit of Mount Toubkal, passing by the river into the south circle above the refuge.
• Climb through an avalanche of boulder rocks. It is a challenging walk rather than a climb, then continues straightforward between giant rocks where the altitude will make some steps very difficult.
• Reach the plateau, from where you can enjoy the first light on the surrounding peaks above 4000 m.
• Continue on a short walk to the summit with panoramic views on each mountainside.
• Find yourselves on the top of North Africa after 3 hours of walking, with beautiful views in every direction: to the north, the plain of Marrakech and the northern valleys and lake villages; to the south, the Anti Atlas and Sahara. The time spent at the top will depend on the weather, and thirty minutes will be enough.
• Descend the same way to the refuge, which takes 2 hours, with time for lunch and rest.
• Do 3 hours and 30 minutes of walking down to Imlil while retracing your steps.
• Head back to Marrakech.
