Day by day

The itinerary

1
Day 01

Marrakech to Zagora via Ait Benhaddou and Ouarzazate

  • After breakfast, depart from Marrakech at around 8:00 in the morning, crossing the High Atlas Mountains via the Tizi n'Tichka pass towards the fortified ksar of Ait Benhaddou village.
  • Once you arrive in Ait Benhaddou, walk to the top of the hill for scenic views.
  • Then head to Ouarzazate for lunch, next to the famous Taourirt Kasbah, which reflects Ouarzazate's historical and cultural significance.
  • Continue through lunar landscapes and the pre-Sahara routes until you reach Zagora, a small town and the native region of the Saadian dynasty, which once ruled Morocco in the 17th century and is linked to the Saadian Tombs in Marrakech.
  • Arrive at Tamgroute, 18 km away, a small village where many locals work in pottery handicrafts. Tamgroute is also well known for its old Koranic school and library. Over the next five kilometres, you will see the first dunes of Zagora, known as the Tinfou Dunes.
  • Ride camels at sunset and continue to camp at an oasis.

Overnight in nomad tents.

Day 02

Sunrise in Zagora and Return to Marrakech

  • Enjoy sunrise on the dunes before taking a camel ride back to Zagora.
  • Board your vehicle and return to Ouarzazate through the Draa Valley and Agdz.
  • In Ouarzazate, visit the Taourirt Kasbah and enjoy lunch.

Travel back to Marrakech in the afternoon.
