2-Day High Atlas Mountain Trek from Marrakech via Tizi Oussem

Depart from Marrakech for a pleasant drive south through Tizi n'Tast to reach the higher foothills of the Western High Atlas Mountains at the trailhead of Imi Ourhlad. There, leave the vehicle and meet the Berber muleteer crew, which is always a fun part of these treks.

Set off in a northwesterly direction for a 2-hour acclimatization hike along switchback mule tracks to Tizi n'Tacht (2,000 m), where you will stop for a picnic lunch and admire the surrounding valleys and peaks.

Then continue on a slow hike for about 3 hours southwest along mule tracks to the red clay village of Tizi Oussem (1,700 m).

After breakfast, head out through pine and juniper trees to traverse the Tizi n'Tichka pass and descend slowly to the hamlet of M'Zik (1,806 m), where you will stop for a picnic lunch amid orchards of cherry, apple, and nut trees, with surrounding mountain peaks all around.

In the afternoon, set off downhill to the Berber village and continue to Imlil village, where your transportation will be waiting to take you back to Marrakech. Overall, this is a 6-hour trek followed by a 1 hour 30 minute transfer back to Marrakech.
