The itinerary

Day 01

Marrakech, High Atlas, Telouet and Aït Benhaddou to Ouarzazate

Depart at 08:00 am from Marrakech to Ouarzazate via the High Atlas Mountains and the Tizi n'Tichka pass.
Visit the Telouet Kasbah and the UNESCO World Heritage Site of Aït Benhaddou Kasbah, which was inscribed by UNESCO in 1987.
Pass through Ouarzazate, known as the Hollywood of Africa, as it is a famous destination for filmmakers.

Overnight in Ouarzazate.

Day 02

Ouarzazate through Dades Valley to Todra Gorges

From Ouarzazate, drive towards Dades Gorges along the Valley of Roses.
Arrive in Dades Valley and enjoy the beautiful green fields of figs and almonds.
Pass through many hamlets and villages along the way before arriving at Todra Gorges.

Overnight in a Kasbah overlooking the river.

Day 03

Todra Gorges, Erfoud and Tinjedad to Merzouga Dunes

From Todra Gorges, start driving towards Erg Chebbi along the arid landscapes and volcanic mountains of the Anti Atlas.
Pass through the town of Tinjedad, the nerve centre of the area, and Erfoud, which is famous for its fossil factories where beautiful shapes and pieces are made from the rock of the neighbouring mountains.
Head for the Erg Chebbi sand sea.
Continue deeper into the desert landscape until the dunes appear in the middle of nowhere.

Overnight in a Berber tented camp.

Day 04

Erg Chebbi, Ziz Valley, Midelt, Azrou and Ifrane to Fes

After breakfast, take a camel trek back to the hotel at the dunes and enjoy a quick shower.
Drive towards Fes, stopping on the way to enjoy panoramic views over the Ziz Valley before crossing the High Atlas Mountains again.
Stop in the town of Midelt for lunch.
Pass through Azrou and then Ifrane, with its huge cedar wood forest, to see the monkeys.
Continue to the legendary city of Fes.
