The itinerary

1
Day 01

Arrival in Marrakech and Medina Discovery

Welcome to Morocco. Following your arrival at Marrakech Airport, we will take a short drive to our joining hotel, where we will stay for the night. If you arrive early, try to explore the old medina with its narrow alleyways and its famous square, Djamaa Elfena.

Hotel: Alandalous & Spa or similar.

2
Day 02

Across the High Atlas to Aït Benhaddou and Dades Valley

This morning, we will start our journey by crossing the High Atlas Mountains of Morocco and arrive at the old village of Aït Benhaddou, once a major stop for caravans in the old days and now a UNESCO World Heritage Site. It has also been used as a backdrop for many international films such as Gladiator, Prince of Persia, and Game of Thrones.

Not too far from this village is Ouarzazate, a city in southern Morocco known as the Hollywood of North Africa due to the number of movies made in its film studios. On the way to Boumalne Dades, where we will stay for the night, we pass through the Roses Valley, a beautiful evergreen valley famous for its Damask roses, where people hold a festival every year to celebrate the harvest.

3
Day 03

Todgha Gorge, Rissani, Erfoud and Sahara Camp

After breakfast, we will head east towards the Sahara. En route, we pass by the magnificent Todgha Gorge, often called the Grand Canyon of Morocco. This area is also very famous for fossils and fossilised marble.

In Rissani, we will stop for lunch. After lunch, we will continue our journey to Erfoud. Then it is time to reach the Sahara Desert, where we will transfer to our camels and ride across the dunes to the Berber camp for the night. If anyone cannot ride a camel, there is the possibility of taking a 4WD at extra cost to drive to the camp.

On arrival at the camp, you will have some free time before dinner. Overnight in the desert camp.

4
Day 04

From the Sahara through Errachidia and Ziz Valley to Fes

After breakfast and a shower in the Berber camp, we will drive through the city of Errachidia and the Ziz Valley, famous for its date palms. After that, we will cross the High and Middle Atlas Mountains, which separate the Sahara Desert from the country's interior regions.

We will arrive in Fes, the oldest capital of Morocco, where we will stay for the night. Overnight in a hotel or riad.

5
Day 05

Guided Sightseeing in Medieval Fes

Today we take a guided tour of Fes. Fes is the oldest and largest medieval city in the world. Its medina, home to 400,000 inhabitants and with only donkeys and bikes as a means of transportation, is a heady mix of aromas, sights, and sounds.

There are plenty of mosques and palaces to visit, but only Muslims can enter mosques in Morocco. After exploring the dye pits, tanneries, pottery, and restaurants, we return to our hotel to freshen up for the evening.

We can have a traditional meal and entertainment in the city, with live Moroccan performances including traditional dancing, belly dancing, and magicians. Overnight in a hotel or riad.

6
Day 06

Chefchaouen and the Blue Medina

After breakfast, we drive towards Chefchaouen, the blue city. It is a popular tourist attraction in Morocco and a welcoming town situated in the Rif Mountains, just south of the Mediterranean coastline in northwest Morocco. This beautiful blue city is known for its traditional buildings.

Enjoy a walk to explore the medina's white and blue-washed walls and the markets that offer some unique native handicrafts. Chefchaouen is a fantastic destination for photography, with wonderful views of the Rif Mountains.

We will have an optional dinner in one of the local restaurants in the medina before returning to our hotel. Overnight at the hotel.
