Exploring Assam

Reviewed April 11, 2019

We spent nine days exploring eastern Assam with Pulakesh. We travelled eastwards from Dibrugahr almost to the border with Myanmar before turning westwards to Guwahati via Majuli Island and Kaziranga National Park. Our programme was very varied taking in wildlife, birds, industrial archaeology (our choice), local textile production, and religious sites. Throughout Pulakesh was an exemplary, well organised, caring and well informed guide. He showed us how to best experience what was on offer as well as responding creatively suit our individual interests. Most importantly, he was a great travelling companion whose company were really enjoyed.  We  are very happy to recommend him wholeheartedly.

Perfect Guide

Reviewed April 6, 2019

We spent 3 days with Pulakesh as our guide in Assam.

Nothing was too much trouble. We visited temples, restaurants and experienced our first Puja, which was very special.  Pulakesh is knowledgeable, friendly and has a great sense of humour.  We were honoured to be invited to his home to meet his family and were welcomed with open arms and of course tea and sweets.

We would highly recommend Pulakesh if visiting this beautiful area of Assam.  We look forward to visiting again.

Individual trip through Northeast India

Reviewed May 8, 2015

4 weeks through Northeast India (english) In March and April 2015, I travelled through Northeast India (Assam and Arunachal Pradesh states) for several weeks. As on previous trips, I was very impressed not only by the unspoilt nature along the Brahmaputra River, but also by the ethnic and cultural diversity of this region. But individual tours in many areas of Northeast India still present a real challenge (especially in terms of tourist and transportation infrastructures). For this reason, but also to get to know new areas and tribal peoples, I decided to enlist the support of a local guide for this year’s trip. I was lucky enough to find Mr. Pulakesh Talukdar, owner and tour operator of the agency „Expedition North East India”. He combined my personal wishes and input into an individual, hassle-free itinerary, and over four exciting weeks personally accompanied me through Northeast India (Manas national park, Holi festival Barpeta, Tawang and Sangetsar-lake, trekking in Namdapha, the Lohit river and Parasuramkund, Dibru Saikhowa national park, and the Gibbon wildlife sanctuary near Mariani). In short, it was a highly organized and unforgettable trip, thanks to Mr. Pulakesh Talukdar!
