We had a 4-hour private tour of the city of Veracruz this afternoon with Marcela. Her English is excellent; she understands everything, communicates clearly, and helped us learn Spanish words and phrases. Marcela has an exhaustive knowledge of Veracruz, Mesoamerican civilizations, and the history of Mexico -- and its subtleties -- from pre-Columbian time to the present -- the Spanish "conquest," the fate of indigenous people under Spain's rule, the story of black slaves in Veracruz, the Mexican War of Independence, Benito Juarez and the Reform movement, the time of Porfirio Diaz, the Mexican Revolution, the rule of the PRI, Obrador and Sheinbaum, etc. We learned so much during one short afternoon!! She is kind, and she patiently and fully answered our questions. We recommend Marcela as Guide Numero Uno!!

My son and I hired Marcela at the last minute for a tour of San Juán de Ulúa  and the historic area of Veracruz.  She was great!  She was knowledgable, friendly, and had good English skills.  She picked us up at our hotel in the historic area of Veracruz.  Her driver (who we later found out was her husband, although I think she often uses her father) had a nice new car that was spotlessly clean.  We enjoyed walking and talking for the morning - she was a good source of information and easy to be with.  Setting up the tour was simple and she was very responsive via email.  I would highly recommend her.
