One of a kind

Reviewed November 10, 2015

George is an absolutely outstanding tour guide. He is more than a guy that just stands up there and spits out facts. He took my study abroad group on multiple tours and each one was personalized, informative, and fun. He got to know us and knew our names by the end of the first tour. George knows almost everything there is to know about the country which made his tours very enjoyable. His passion and enthusiasm are not easy to find. The most memorable experiences from my time in Cape Town came on George's tours, and I highly recommend George to anybody who wants to feel at home while visiting South Africa.

Cape Town, SA - 21st to 25th Sep 2015

George has been a really helpful guide, and he made my first trip and honeymoon to Cape Town so memorable. He was very flexible with our itinerary, no pressure on timing and brings us to places we like more, example shopping at outlet stores for cheaper sports apparels. He even introduced us to a private money changer that saved us some administrative charges. Loved the stories he told along the way. Thanks George!!! Mac

Dear Mac, thanks very much for your kind review and much appreciated! Yes, many of the smaller "bureau de change" offer better rates of exchange with lesser admin charges than the larger commercial banks. I imagine they pass the "savings" on to the client by having less overheads. It was a pleasure More

hosting you guys and wishing you many years of honeymoon bliss! Regards, George Less

Adventuring!

George took us on several tours, as a group of IES Abroad Students who come from a variety of backgrounds in the United States. George kept enthusiasm levels always high (despite our lack of after having classes or working all day!), and his knowledgeable insight and passionate personality made Cape Town and our memories 200% more memorable and meaningful!

George Meyer - making Cape Town extra special

Reviewed November 2, 2015

My sons, a friend and I were in Cape Town for a week in July 2015. Our guide for the duration of our stay was the lovely George Meyer, corporate banker turned tour guide. He was perfect for our group - never once hurrying us (despite us generally taking our time, especially with the photography), and always wanting us to have the best experience possible. Often, what was scheduled as a 'half day tour' stretched to full day ones; George was super accommodating and once he got to know us a bit better and our preferences, he wowed us with some fabulous detours that weren't on the itinerary - he's the master of sho't lefts :-) Needless to say, George was a veritable walking encyclopaedia - he seemed to know everything about everything, from the flora and fauna, to history, architecture and food. On the rare occasion that he didn't have an answer, he'd come back with an answer within the day. He's still obliging me with answers to my South Africa-related questions after we've returned to Singapore. Cape Town and its surrounds are beautiful - seeing all of it with George Meyer made it extra special for us, and I can't recommend him highly enough.

Outstanding guide, brilliant experience

Reviewed November 2, 2015

In the (too) short five days that George was our guide in Cape Town, George's genuine enthusiasm, passion and love for South Africa really showed - it made every piece of information he shared with us so captivating. George is also exceptionally warm and friendly and it was so easy to feel comfortable around him - it felt like we were travelling around with another old friend , it was hard to believe we only met George a couple of days ago. We unfortunately met with bad weather and had to change some of our planned itinerary - but George was very responsive in updating us on the changes and in trying to accommodate what we wanted to do as best as he could despite the weather constraints. He was resourceful and planned a great day out despite the last minute weather limitations and attentively remembered our early request to visit an ostrich farm (that we had just mentioned in passing much earlier), thoughtfully making a special detour to a farm which turned out to be one of the highlights of a wonderful day (: George was also willing to go out of the way and stay later than he needed to in order to enable us to experience as much of Cape Town we could - when the weather permitted late in the day, he drove us to Table Mountain and stayed till the last cable car down, even after driving for hours around Stellenbosch vineyards all day. George's enthusiasm and warmth never waned despite driving for long hours. George is truly an exceptional, outstanding guide. We have George to thank for a brilliant experience in Cape Town. Simply the best - highly recommended!
