We took two tours with Samuel, night and day. He was an outstanding guide who has over 30 years of experience and knows all the plants and animals of the forest. He gave us a unique, personalized tour that went above and beyond the basic tour experience. He listened closely to our questions and was genuinely interested in what we had to say. His energy and love for the forest is clear. He lives to give these tours and educate visitors about the critical importance of the Cloud Forest. At the end I was wishing we had booked an entire day with him but it didn't work with our travel plans. Don't hesitate to book a tour with him! Pura Vida!

Samuel is an excellent guide. We, a couple from Austria (1 Biologist), had a great bird watching morning tour with Samuel I'm December 2021. He even extended the tour a bit. He knows every single bird and bird voice. He is very focused on an ecological friendly behaviour while being in nature. He does respect nature a lot and expects the same from his tour guests. We really appreciated this. We learned a lot and also had good and interesting chats with him. I've even been "attact" by a Kolibri, hummingbird, which was quite fun. Unfortunately, we forgot to sit down after the tour to ask for a the bird names, but that's on us, since we stayed in the park after the tour.

We would definitely book him again.

Samuel led us on a fantastic birding walk through a private reserve. He is very knowledgeable and skilled aiding us in seeing dozens of species we would never have seen on our own. They included toucanets, tocan, quetzal, bell bird, motmott to name a few.  We learnt so much from him and enjoyed his friendly manner. This was one of our trip highlights.  Highly recommend Samuel!

Agree with other reviews but would add that we were both highly impressed that Samuel really gives back to his community.  He grows and promoted native plants to be planted by local farmers in their tree rows to help all sorts of native butterflies, birds and animals.  Good for farmers to have the extra pollinators then too.  Real win-win.  Not sure how much of his tips he puts back into helping improve the local private farms but think it considerable.  We were happy to feel like our generous tips added so much and encourage everyone to tip the generous guides....generously !

Samuel was our guide for a hike through Monteverde Biological Reserve and was one of the best we've had. Samuel was very knowledgeable and was able to answer all of questions. He was patient and truly wanted us to have the best experience. We could tell Samuel loves nature. His passion and love for all things in the forest was completely apparent. We highly recommend Samuel!
