Even if I was his only guest on our trips across Kathmandu Valley, I still felt Kunal's energy, passion, and concern.... In so little time, I learned a lot about Nepal's history and culture... I got to visit both the bucketlist and not-so-touristy places... and I also managed to taste the must-eat dishes... It probably helped that he is excellently fluent in English, or that he is young and proud of his country... but his positive personality and hospitality surely stood out, and not all tour guides are like him. Nepal is a beautiful country, and a person like Kunal certainly makes Nepal a home away from home.

I spent six amazing days in Kathmandu and Pokhara with three friends and our amazing guide, Kunal Gurung. We felt immediately comfortable with him, and his knowledge of his country extends to history, culture, politics, arts, and beyond! We visited traditional, favorite places but he also showed us off-the-beaten-path gems. I strongly recommend Kunal for your visit to this beautiful country- enjoy!

Kunal was a superb guide. I told him that I wanted to go off the beaten path and try the food that Nepalese would usually go for in the neighborhoods we passed through. He delivered! We had great conversations about culture, history and politics too. 

Traveling with Kunal for a week in Nepal was extraordinary.  Kunal really listened to our interests and guided us to see local craftsman, small villages, and local eateries that were supporting local Nepalese (rather than focused on filling the pocket of the big tour companies and their affiliates). Kunal is very organized and managed the logistics very well .  He was also very flexible in his planning to let us stay longer at some locations, explore county villages, and took the time to introduce us to locals where he did a great job translating for us. I really appreciate Kunal's willingness to share what it means to him and his family grow up in Nepal, his thoughts on the country's history, and insights into where the country's future is heading.  Our discussions over meals were always lively and left me feeling like I was getting to see the world from a different perspective.  Kunal's love of history and enthusiasm for sharing Nepal is inspiring.  I look forward to returning to see more of Nepal and look forward to traveling with Kunal again.

Kunal is one of the best guides I've ever worked with. His knowledge is seemingly endless and he speaks English with near-native fluency, which makes a huge difference when you're listening to many hours of new information. He showed us all the sights in Kathmandu and was flexible, fun, and open. Not to mention he has a million other talents and great stories about life in Nepal. I can't recommend him as a guide highly enough!
