Thanks to the Great Lake Expedition, the dreams of our childhood finally came true, and we saw African animals at the rawest and wildest! Top-notch trip planning, excellent hotels and lodges, a good car and a professional driver guide made our experience!

It truly was the fabulous team from Great Lake Expedition that made my family’s trek up Mt. Kilimanjaro successful, positive, and a magical experience. Iza set us up with an incredible group of men & women who guided us up the mountain.

Standouts on our hike that really made the difference for me include Innocent, our main guide. Innocent, a man of integrity, extraordinary mountain climbing skills, and compassionate support, is one of the main reasons I was able to summit.

Saidy was another positive standout from my hiking experience. He went way over and above to assure my success and safety as I descended the mountain. He met me where I was mentally, physically, and emotionally, allowing me to move down the snowy mountain at my own pace.

I’ll be 59 years old in a couple weeks and on May 23, 2021, I successfully summited Mt. Kilimanjaro. My success can be greatly attributed to the good people of Great Lake Expedition You guys are the best and I’ll never forget all you did for me. Thank you so much.

I went with Great Lake Expedition to climb the Kilimanjaro via the Lemosho route. For me this was one of the best experience while I was in Tanzania and recommend everyone who is into hiking to give it a try.

To start off I have to give a shout out to the Great Lake Expedition crew. They helped me a lot during the reservation and preparation process. All my question were answered quickly and special requests for pick- up and drop-off were arranged without any problems.

First day and night will be in a good hotel (note that lunch and dinner is not included here). Here your gear is checked by the crew. There are rental options if you need some extra gear. The advice they gave me was really helpful.

The guides were great and knew their stuff. You could go to them with any question, request or complaint. They also payed attention to the well-being of every hiker. On top of that they carried out a medical check twice a day.

The porters were really nice, and did our heavy loading. Without them the trekking would much more difficult.

The food was great and there was plenty of it. But be prepared for a lot of carbs.

Because of the professional organization everyone in our group made it to the top (despite the difficult hike to the summit).

My experience with Great Lake Expedition was excellent

We fell in love with our whole  Great Lake Expedition team! From the time we were greeted at thehotel, to the time we summited the mountain, there was never a time that we didn't feel fully taken care of by the Great Lake Expedition staff. We were thankful for all of Modest's (hotel front desk) help and logistics. Our Guides (Tofa, Charles , File and kind of  Baraka) were excellent! We got to be friends with all our guides and on summit day Tofa and  Baraka patiently guided one of our team members to what seemed an impossible summit victory, while Charles and File lead the rest of the pack keeping us at a steady "pole pole" pace. I am now social media friends with several of the Great Lake Expedition  staff and I can say that if you take a tour with them, you are more than just a client... you are family
