Charles Brightman Review

Reviewed April 8, 2014

We had the pleasure of being guided by Charles for a week in and around Victoria Falls and Hwange. Charles has a very pleasant manner and we felt at home very quickly, more like being with a long time friend rather than someone we had just met. He has a calm manner, exceptional spotting skills, fantastic knowledge of the land and its wildlife and plant life. I can wholeheartedly recommend Charles to anyone who wants a first class safari guide.

Our highlight of Victoria Falls

Reviewed April 5, 2014

I think this extract from my diary for the morning in Victoria Falls township says it all: "This morning was another highlight of our trip. There have been so many! We had booked a Walking Safari in the Zambesi National Park, of which Victoria Falls and the town of the same name are within. We were picked up at 6.15am by a "Rhodesian" Guide named Charles Brightman, and returned to our hotel five and a half hours later. And it was supposed to be only a 3 hour tour! Charles was an amazing Guide. He was born in and has spent his life in Victoria Falls and is a mine of amazing information. He was part anthropologist, naturalist, botanist and zoologist as well as heading the local Anti-poaching Squad. We had not chosen his safari to see animals. We had seen so many in Tanzania and will see many more in Botswana. What we wanted was to learn about the finer things of life in the wild in Africa. And wow, did we do well." My diary goes on for pages, each line full of enthusiasm and finishes off with: "At this point our Safari Walk was over, with our having spent a fascinating five and half hours listening and trying to absorb as much as we could from Charles' encyclopaedic type knowledge." No trip to Africa is complete without the experience of a morning with Charles.

One of Zimbabwe's top guides

Reviewed April 4, 2014

My husband and I have taken two extensive trips in Zimbabwe with Charles (one recently and one about ten years ago). On each trip we've been extremely impressed by his bush knowledge, sense of humor, and choice of camps and destinations. From Mana Pools to Matusadona to Hwange and Vic Falls, Charles is able to find wildlife and share information, not only about animals and habitats but also about ecology and conservation, particularly due to his key role in the Victoria Falls Anti-Poaching patrol. Thank you Charles - we had great fun!
