THIS THE SECOND TIME WE HAVE USED ELI AS A GUIDE. After our first trip to Israel we went home to research my family to uncover my Jewish origin through my Father and Grandfather. My husband and I have since converted, but there was a problem with the final hurdle which Eli with his contacts and determination sorted out!! This was the email we sent him. It says it all.......... Shalom Eli This is just to send you a heartfelt thank you for all you did for us during our trip to Israel in May. The reason for our visit was very special, and for that we also needed a very special guide to work with us ......and we found it in you! Bri'el ,my husband, is confined to a wheelchair with limited mobility which was enough to put other guides off dealing with us. Yet you managed to take us both up to the top of Masada and all around Jerusalem, which was no easy task! Also, the trip was to complete our conversion to Judaism, which needed a Mikveh (ritual immersion in flowing water) to be performed. The problem was that in the UK there is no Mikveh available for someone like Bri'el. You, with your contacts and knowledge, managed to help The Movement For Reform Judaism, to facilitate this special moment by co-ordinating with the Yardenit for us to do this in the Jordan. This is the first time that a Christian site has been used to co-ordinate a Jewish Mikveh Tevilah and was a little piece of history in the making! We also through your contacts, had the joy of planting an olive tree with you, at Neot Kedomim to celebrate our conversion and becoming part of the Jewish people. It was an emotional and wonderful moment which you also (along with the Mikveh Tevilah) managed to capture on camera for us, so we had the beautiful memories to take home. It was ten amazing, very Jewish, days to begin our journey into life as Ger Tzedek, and the days we spent with you were very much the highlight. You have so much patience with a couple whose needs are so special, and we now have the visual proof that you are able as a guide, to achieve the impossible when given a challenge!! For that we are so grateful and so is our Shul of Menorah in North Cheshire. We will meet again in Israel I am sure. Until then dear friend this is just SHALOM not goodbye!!
