We stayed in Milan and wanted to find a local guide in Bergamo for the tour next day. We were lucky that Sara responded that she is available for 10 am 3 hr cultural and historic tour of Bergamo. Our morning train from Milan was cancelled, and we had to take a train one hour later. We texted to Sara, and she responded that she will wait for us at the last bus stop in the historic upper city. First thing when we met she treated us with coffee and local sweets at the coffee shop near the bus stop; it was good to have it after chaotic morning rush with canceled train. Sara with her local routes was very passionate about her city, its history, architecture,  people and food. After walking through the narrow streets and piazzas of the upper city, ancient Roman roads she brought us to  the Basilica of St. Mary, the main historic treasure of Bergamo and she told us about its history, and religious and art treasures. Through narrow stairways she took us to the top of Basilica from where we had wonderful view and she showed from where from the city was bombarded by enemies during war times.  We went to Colleoni Chapel and she told us a story about this remarkable man. After walking to the upper city Venetian walls Sara took us to nice upper town restaurant, where we had a light Italian lunch for 12 euro/person. She directed us to the old Funicular which we took after lunch before going back to Milan. It was a wonderful day in the beautiful historic city and knowledgeable guide.
