7-Day Morocco Desert Camel Trek from Zagora to Chegaga

Meet the tour manager in Zagora.

Enjoy a hearty breakfast before departing by 4x4 or minibus for a 90 km journey towards Mhamid, an oasis that serves as a caravan stop. Stop in the Draa Valley along the way.

Stop by the village of Tagounite, home to the intimate Tamengroute Koranic Library with its large collection of ancient manuscripts, an underground kasbah, and a colony of potters who create eye-catching green ceramic pottery.

Continue onwards to join your team and caravan for lunch.

Set off with the caravan between the dunes and the tamarisk trees to arrive at the Bartam dunes, where we will install our bivouac shelters and camp for the night. Enjoy dinner and stay overnight in tents or under the stars, according to your preference.

Enjoy a scrumptious breakfast after sunrise.

Begin the day by accompanying the caravan on a walk through the fossil-rich Draa Hamada, then enjoy a hearty lunch in the shade of acacia trees.

Continue walking in the Hamada until 3 PM before making your way to the bivouacs in the dunes of Bougrn.

Enjoy an early breakfast and set out for a walk between the dunes to relish the absolute quiet and the strange thrill of the desert.

Have lunch in the shade of tamarisk at around 3 PM.

Continue towards the Chegaga dunes and install the bivouac at a chosen location that affords the most spectacular view of the setting sun.

After breakfast, set off in the direction of the Jbel Bani mountains.

Walk between the dunes and continue for 1 hour until you reach a stony desert.

Enjoy a scrumptious lunch under the shade of palm trees in the Oasis Moiht Salah.

Resume walking across the desert of stones. Install the bivouac at the gate of the mountains in Oued el Mhasser and stay overnight.

Enjoy breakfast before setting out for a walk along the path traced by the nomads between the mountains.

Stop for lunch near Lake Amsafi at around 3 PM and enjoy your meal in the shade of acacia trees.

Continue towards the Wadi Lamhasser.

Install the bivouac in the famous Diabo Oases, located between the mountains of Jebel Bani, for an overnight stay.

Enjoy a hearty breakfast before setting out to cross the Bani mountains. Take in a gorgeous panoramic view overlooking the Plateau of Fayja, then continue the descent to arrive at the plateau.

Break for lunch at around 3 PM.

Continue your walk along lines of palm trees where henna is grown by settled nomads.

Install the bivouac for the night.

Enjoy your last breakfast amidst the dunes before transferring to Zagora by track.

Have lunch in Agdz, then transfer back to Marrakech via Ouarzazate.
