Day 01

Palccoyo Rainbow Mountain and Checacupe Day Tour

  • 05:00 AM - Pick up from your hotel in Cusco by private transport.

  • Drive south to the small village of Checacupe.

  • Stop to see an Inca bridge and a colonial bridge, and to purchase last-minute items such as drinks, snacks, sunblock, and rain ponchos.

  • Continue driving for approximately one more hour to reach the base camp.

  • Begin a gradual uphill walk of 30-45 minutes to the Palccoyo Pass (4,880 metres / 16,000 feet).

  • Enjoy spectacular panoramic views of the three Rainbow Mountains, the Palccoyo peaks, Ausangate Mountain - the highest in the Cusco region - and the Stone Forest at the highest point.

  • Spend approximately one hour at the pass for photography and sightseeing.

  • Return to base camp by the same trail.

  • Have a freshly prepared hot lunch at a local site.

  • Travel back to Cusco in the private van.

  • Arrive at your hotel at approximately 5:30 PM.
