Day 01

Discover Ancient Kharkhorin and Its Imperial Legacy

  • After exploring the impressive Erdenezuu Monastery, take some time to visit the Kharkhorin Museum, located in the heart of Karakorum. The museum offers a deep dive into the history and archaeology of Mongolia's ancient capital, showcasing artifacts from the time of the Mongol Empire.
  • You'll find an array of fascinating exhibits, including ancient weapons, traditional Mongolian attire, and archaeological finds from the area. Highlights include historical displays related to Genghis Khan, his military campaigns, and the cultural exchange that took place along the Silk Road. The museum also showcases items from the Yuan Dynasty and the period of Kublai Khan, giving insight into the Mongol Empire's legacy and its impact on world history.
  • After the museum visit, take some leisurely time on the hill, where you can explore the remnants of the ancient city and its once-thriving marketplaces.
  • In the late afternoon, you can either enjoy a peaceful evening in the area or return to your accommodation to relax and reflect on the day's historical discoveries. Stay overnight in a convenient tourist camp with modern public restroom and shower facilities.

Day 02

Camel Riding at Elsen Tasarkhai and Nomadic Homestay

  • In the morning, you'll be picked up from your hotel and head to the semi-sand dunes of Elsen Tasarkhai.
  • Visit the Uvgun Temple ruins, where you can hike through the peaceful landscape and meditate, allowing yourself to connect deeply with the natural surroundings.
  • This is followed by a visit to a traditional nomadic family. Experience their unique way of life as you stay with them, learn about their customs, and gain insight into Mongolia's rich nomadic culture.
  • Enjoy a scenic camel ride along the semi-desert sand dunes. Dinner is offered by the nomadic family. Stay overnight with the nomads in your own private ger.

Day 03

Hustai National Park, Traditional Crafts, and Horse Riding

  • Today, we will visit another family near Hustai National Park, where we'll learn the traditional techniques of making dairy products from cow's milk.
  • Our host mother, a skilled craftswoman, will teach us how to create handmade felt products, such as earrings and more.
  • Together, we'll cook buuz, a delicious traditional Mongolian dish.
  • After lunch, enjoy a relaxing horse ride and take in the stunning scenery. In the evening, we'll visit Hustai National Park, where we may catch a glimpse of the wild horses as they come to drink water during the summer months.
  • Return to the family home and enjoy some well-deserved rest.

Day 04

Farewell to Your Host Family and Return to Ulaanbaatar

  • After a delicious Mongolian breakfast of Urum Boortsog, we'll bid farewell to our host family and head back to Ulaanbaatar.

Know before you go

Nomadic stays: Please note that while staying with a nomadic family in their private ger (yurt) offers a truly authentic experience, the facilities are basic and do not include showers. Showers and modern plumbing are generally not available in traditional nomadic homes, as these families live a simple, mobile lifestyle.
