10-Day Orkhon Valley and Karakorum Tour with Khustai National Park

• Arrive in Ulaanbaatar, the capital of Mongolia. Depending on your arrival time, transfer to the hotel and, after breakfast, enjoy a city tour including Gandan Monastery and the biggest square, Sukhbaatar Square, located in the center of Ulaanbaatar.
• Have lunch in a traditional Mongolian restaurant. After that, visit the Natural History Museum and Chinggis Khaan Museum, famous for their authentic dinosaur skeletons and fossils, as well as the Bogd Khan Palace Museum. Then visit Zaisan Memorial Hill for a view over the whole city.
• Have a welcome dinner at a restaurant and stay overnight in a hotel.

• Drive early in the morning to Karakorum and arrive in the late afternoon.
• Visit Erdene Zuu Monastery and the great monument of the three dynasties. The ancient capital of Mongolia, Karakorum City, was located on the right bank of the Orkhon River and on the northeastern slopes of the Khangai Mountains. Founded by Chinggis Khan in 1220, it was the capital of the vast Mongolian Empire and the epicenter of trade along the Silk Road. At that time, the city's inhabitants were mostly merchants and craftsmen from around the world who came to Karakorum. Khubilai Khan later moved the capital of the Mongolian Empire to China, establishing the Yuan Dynasty, and Karakorum began to lose its importance.
• Stay overnight in a ger at "Munkh Suuri".

• Drive to the waterfall early in the morning after breakfast. On the way, pass through beautiful landscapes and meet horse herders. Water falls from a height of 20 meters at Orkhon Waterfall, locally known as Ulaan Tsutgalan.
• Stay overnight in a ger camp.

• Today, drive to Tuvkhun Khiid and visit Tuvkhun Temple. On the peak of Tuvkhun Uul stands the monastery of Tuvkhun, erected by Undur Gegeen Zanabazar. Mongolians built about ten stone monasteries in the 17th century.
• Ride to one of the most beautiful monastery complexes on a forested rocky mountain in Uvurhangai Province.
• Spend the night in a Mongolian ger.

• After breakfast, drive to Tsenkher soum. Stay in the ger camp "Altan Nutag".

• Drive early in the morning to Terkhiin Tsagaan Lake. On the way, make a short stop in Tsetserleg, the capital of Arkhangai. Also visit Taikhar Rock. Before dinner, transfer to the camp and stay overnight in a ger at a tourist camp.

• Today, drive to Ugii Lake.

On the way, visit the Khushuu Tsaidam memorial complex devoted to Bilge Khan, dating to the year 716.

This is the ruin of a sacrificial temple where a turtle stone monument, stone sheep, lion, and a stone board with ornaments were found, together with 4,000 archaeological items discovered at the site.

Today, reach the ger at Ugii Lake.

Stay in the ger camp "Khatan Ugii". Ugii Nuur Lake covers an area of 27 sq. km at 1,387 meters above sea level in Ugii Nuur soum in Arkhangai aimag. The lake's fish and birds complement the scenic nature.

It is a favorite destination for wildlife and ornithological researchers, fishing enthusiasts, and travelers alike.

• After breakfast, drive to Khustain Nuruu National Park.

Khustai National Park is located in Altanbulag sum, Tuv Province. Khustai covers an area of 506 square km and was established in 1993. The park protects the wild horse "Takhi", also known around the world as Przewalski's wild horse, as well as a biodiversity of other rare wild animals and plants. The variety of ecosystems within the park assures an abundance of wildlife.
