Palermo's Royal, Sacred and Baroque Landmarks
- We will visit the Royal Palace, where the amazing Palatine Chapel, a UNESCO site, shows evidence of political power in the 12th century. Then we will walk to the city's core and enter the vast Cathedral to approach the shrine containing the relic of St. Rosalia, Palermo's much-admired patron saint.
- Following that, we will reach Quattro Canti, an octagonal square dividing the baroque city into four parts, also known as the "Teatro del Sole" because there is always at least one bright and sunny spot.
- We will then proceed to the Martorana Church, also a UNESCO site, and stop at one of the oldest coffee shops, where coffee is still ground as it was when the business began three generations ago.
- Next, we will reach the famed Teatro Massimo, one of the symbols of the art-deco renaissance in Palermo. It is truly amazing.
- During our tour, I will also take you to one of the historical markets in the city, where you can taste the traditional food Palermo is well known for.
- Finally, after a satisfying break, we will reach one of the grandest palaces, currently open to visitors and still retaining its original 18th-century structure.
