Rucu Pichincha Hike by Teleférico
- Early in the morning, we will pick you up from your hotel in Quito and head to the west side of the city to take the cable car or gondola, which offers a spectacular view of the city and its surroundings.
- The cable car takes us from an altitude of 2950 m to a viewpoint at over 4050 m in 15 minutes. Along the way, you will enjoy a fantastic view of Quito and more than 14 peaks of the Andes. From there, the hike begins along the slopes of the Rucu Pichincha summit, with approximately 2-3 hours of walking and about 1.5 hours through the typical moorland (Andean páramo), the characteristic vegetation of the Andes, up to the rocky summit of Rucu Pichincha.
- At 4,680 m (15,450 ft), the summit offers great views on a clear day, with Quito in the valley and the surrounding volcanoes, including the snow-capped Cayambe, Antisana, and Cotopaxi, on the horizon.
- After lunch, we descend back to the cable car and return to Quito.
