Fes Medina by Private Car and Walking Tour

  • After meeting you at the front door of your riad or hotel, we will start our adventure exploring the city of Fes. The highlights are:
  • Boujloud Gate (Blue Gate)
    • We will head directly to Boujloud Gate, which is the most beautiful gate of the Medina of Fes, through which you can step back into ancient times.
  • The Royal Palace
    • After that, we will drive to see the King's Palace main entrance bronze doors.
    • Take a glimpse at the dazzling exterior of the royal palace. The palace has stunning walls made up of blue mosaic tiles, and the magnificent bronze doors make it a top thing to do in Fes.
  • The Borj South
    • After the King's Palace, we will head to Borj South. It is a fort in the city of Fes, established around 1582 by the Saadian dynasty and likely modelled after Portuguese forts of the time. It is located on the hills overlooking the old city from the south, across the valley from its sister fort, Borj North, on the hills to the north of the city. Today, it is also known as a prime lookout point over the old city.
  • Ceramics and Pottery
    • After enjoying the panoramic view of the Medina of Fez from Borj South, we will head to Ain Nokbi if you're interested in how Fez's beautiful pottery and tiles are made. Ain Nokbi is a district just outside the medina where potters were relocated in 2013 to spare their neighbours the dust and heat of the kilns. When we get to Art Naji COOPERATIVE, they will take you through every phase of production, from pot-throwing to painting to the hand-cutting of the pieces for zellige tilework, showing this amazing work.
    • After the ceramics and pottery visit, the driver will drop us at Rcif Gate to start our adventure in the medina, and we will finish with him. It is going to be a walking tour.
  • We will visit the following places:
    • Rcif Market
    • The dyers Sebaghine
    • Cherratine Mederssa
    • Kettanine Founduq
    • Moulay Idriss Shrine
    • Karaouiene Mosque
    • Chouara tannery
    • Attarine Market
  • After lunch in the Medina of Fez, return to your riad.
