The itinerary

Day 01

Arrival in Amman and Transfer to Aqaba

  • Upon arrival at Amman Airport, the representative will meet you with a Petra Nights Tours sign after you pass through customs.

  • Transfer for about 4 hours to your hotel in Aqaba, check in for an overnight stay, and enjoy the rest of the day at leisure.

Day 02

Leisure Day in Aqaba

  • Enjoy a free day in the Red Sea resort of Aqaba. Relax, explore the duty-free shopping facilities, or have fun with popular water activities like swimming, snorkelling, or diving (not included).

Day 03

Aqaba Sightseeing and Wadi Rum Jeep Adventure

  • After breakfast, take a tour around Aqaba, visiting the Mamluk Fort and the House of Sharif Hussein Bin Ali.

  • See the archaeological site of Ayla and enjoy some time for duty-free shopping in the souq.

  • Continue to Wadi Rum, one of the most impressive desert landscapes in the world.

  • Explore the area by jeep ride to see rugged mountains, canyons, sand dunes, and rock inscriptions from the Thamudic and Nabatean periods.

Day 04

Guided Tour of Petra

  • After breakfast, drive 2.5 hours to the red rose city of Petra, the biggest attraction in Jordan. Petra was first established around the 6th century B.C. by the Nabataean Arabs, a nomadic tribe who settled in the area and laid the foundation of a commercial empire that extended into Syria.

  • With the guide, pass through the canyon, the so-called Siq, to see Petra's most beautiful monument, the Treasury.

  • Continue via the Street of Facades to the Royal Tombs and Pharaoh's Castle.

  • After that, enjoy free time to explore Petra on your own, then walk back the same way to the entrance.

Day 05

Shobak Castle, Dana Views, King's Way, Madaba, Mt. Nebo and Dead Sea

  • After breakfast, drive to Shobak to visit an ancient Crusader castle perched on the side of a rocky, conical mountain.

  • Continue on and enjoy the scenic views of Dana.

  • Travel along the famous ancient caravan route, the King's Way.

  • Make a short stop in Wadi Al-Mujib, a great wide valley with magnificent geological formations.

  • Reach Madaba, where you will find the famous 6th-century mosaic map of Palestine in St. George's Church, and visit the Archaeological Park to see more ancient mosaics.

  • Continue to Mt. Nebo, the place where Prophet Moses gazed at the Promised Land before he died.

  • Proceed to the Dead Sea, the lowest point on earth, where people have flocked ever since the days of Herod the Great in search of its curative secrets.

Check in for an overnight stay.

Day 06

Leisure Day at the Dead Sea

  • Breakfast and overnight at the hotel. No other services are provided.

Day 07

Dead Sea Morning and Amman City Tour

  • Enjoy a free morning to make use of the beach and amenities of your Dead Sea hotel.

  • After check-out, drive back to Jordan's capital, Amman, to visit the Citadel with the remains of the Umayyad Palace and the Hercules Temple, as well as the Archaeological Museum with its excellent collection.

  • In downtown Amman, see the 2nd-century Roman Theatre and the traditional souks.

  • Then stroll through Jabal Amman with its 19th-century houses, including one where the late King Hussein was born.

  • Transfer to your hotel in Amman, check in, and stay overnight.

Day 08

Desert Castles of Eastern Jordan

  • Start your tour to the Desert Castles in eastern Jordan. Amra Castle is adorned with its zodiac dome and early examples of Umayyad fresco paintings, while Qasr Kharanah stands as a fortress-like and mysterious structure, and Azraq is a black basalt Roman and medieval Islamic fort.

  • Continue to Qasr Hallabat, a Roman fortress constructed under Emperor Caracalla that served as protection from Bedouin tribes.

  • Return to your hotel in Amman.

Day 09

Ajloun Castle and Jerash

  • After breakfast, leave Amman and drive to Ajloun to visit the great 12th-century Islamic castle built around 1184/85 by the famous Islamic leader Salah al-Din.

  • Continue to Jerash, the best example of a Roman provincial city in the whole Middle East, with paved and colonnaded streets, soaring hilltop temples, handsome theatres, and spacious public squares and plazas.

  • Return to your hotel in Amman.

Day 10

Al Salt and Iraq Al-Amir

  • After pick-up from the hotel, drive to the town of Salt. Walk along Hammam Street to see the highlights of 19th-century architecture, including houses with long-arched windows set along picturesque narrow streets. One of the best-known landmarks is the Abu Jaber mansion, built between 1892 and 1906 and reputed to be the finest example of a 19th-century merchant house in the region.

  • From here, drive through a picturesque valley to the village of Iraq Al-Amir to enjoy a traditional lunch meal at the Women's Cooperative. The women make a living through the production of pottery and carpets, so you can also observe the making of traditional handicrafts.

  • Close to the village, view Qasr Al-Abd, an example of Hellenistic architecture in Jordan.

  • Transfer to your hotel in Amman for an overnight stay.

Departure Transfer

  • Latest check-out is by 12:00 pm. According to your departure time, transfer for about 1 hour to Amman to board your flight.
