Walking Through the Historic Medina of Fez
Start your half-day walking tour with a visit to Bab Boujloud (the Blue Gate). Continue to the 14th-century Medersa Bou Inania, a Quranic school, then pass along Talaa Saghira Street to Nejjarine Square and the foundouk of woodworkers. You will also be able to see Henna Souk from the inside and take pictures.
Then walk through Attarine Souk, famous for its spices, to the Quaraouyine Mosque, founded in 859 by the Tunisian woman Fatima al Fihria and regarded as the first university in the world. Nearby, see Seffarine Square, where metalworkers work with copper, brass, and pewter, as well as the world-famous Chouara Tanneries.
There are many other monuments as well, including the Moulay Idriss Mausoleum, fountains, and a nice panoramic view over the Fez medina.
