Walk Through Assisi's Historic Heart
This tour of Assisi, the city of Saint Francis, is much more than just a religious tour. It delves into the city's rich history, including the religious figures who have marked its story, while also exploring alleyways to uncover hidden details and gems that may be unknown even to locals.
- On this tour, participants will be taken on a journey through the historic centre of Assisi, starting from the area of the amphitheatre, passing through centres of power such as Piazza del Comune, its public buildings, and its underground, and continuing up to the city's main attraction, the Basilica of San Francesco (outside only).
- The tour is accompanied by tales, anecdotes, and real historical facts that showcase how the ancient Romans, medieval saints, and modern pilgrims have contributed to making the city unique and a UNESCO World Heritage Site since 2000.
- This program offers a delightful trip back in time, from the Umbrian origins of Assisi to the present day, and invites you to discover the beauty of the city in person.
Note: An inside visit to the Basilica of San Francesco is not included in the tour. However, travellers may pay a self-guided visit to the Basilica at the end of the tour if interested.
