Baroque Lecce, Roman Ruins and Artisan Traditions
- During this tour, we will pass through the ancient streets of Lecce's old town, where private palaces belonging to the aristocratic families who lived in Lecce during the Baroque period are situated.
- We will explore together the famous Lecce of Roman times, admiring its most ancient Roman ruins, such as the Roman road, compared to the famous Appian Way, the Column, the Theatre, and the Amphitheatre, similar to the Colosseum in Rome.
- We will also visit the workshops of a local stone and papier-mache atelier in Lecce, where you can learn the secrets behind this ancient tradition, known as the Art of Papier-Mache. Artisans will show you the old techniques used to create a papier-mache statue.
- Then, we will enjoy a walk along the shopping streets, where you will taste typical products such as taralli, local snacks in different flavours including olive oil, pizza, onions, and more.
- At the end of the tour, you will receive details of restaurants and special pastry shops where you can taste the best gelato, traditional sweets, and coffee of Lecce.
