The itinerary

Day 01

Arrival in Campo Grande and Transfer to the Pantanal Lodge

  • Pick up at Campo Grande International Airport (CGR) and enjoy a 3.5-hour drive to the lodge in the city of Aquidauana-MS, followed by check-in.
  • In the afternoon, join a tour scheduled by the lodge team according to the best possibilities for the season. For example, it could be a hike to spot wildlife and experience the farm culture.
  • Back at the lodge, take time to relax by the swimming pool, enjoy a drink at the bar, read while resting comfortably in a hammock on the porch, or take a nap before dinner.

Dinner is served with typical Pantanal recipes and homemade desserts.

Day 02

Horseback Riding and Motorboat Wildlife Watching

  • Breakfast among the birds' symphony, with dairy products fresh from the farm.
  • Morning tour as scheduled by the lodge. For example, horseback riding through the fields where farmers raise cattle. Horses are an essential part of cowboy life in the Pantanal, where survival depends on them during the months when much of the pasture is underwater. This is also a great way to spot wild animals, as they are used to horses and allow a closer approach.
  • Return to the lodge and enjoy free time until lunch.
  • Lunch is served with a variety of dishes and desserts.
  • Take time to recover your energy and escape the heat in the shade of a tree or inside your room.
  • Afternoon snack by the restaurant.
  • In the afternoon, join another scheduled tour. For example, a motorboat ride on the Aquidauana River, a great way to spot Brazilian tapirs, otters, caimans, and many birds.

Piranha Fishing, Hiking, and Night Safari

  • Morning tour as scheduled by the lodge. For example, piranha fishing in the bay, a fun opportunity to see their beautiful smile and watch the reaction of the caimans nearby. Listen to the fisher stories shared by the local guide.
  • Return to the lodge and enjoy free time until lunch.
  • Lunch is served with a variety of dishes and desserts.
  • Take time to recover your energy and escape the heat in the shade of a tree or inside your room.
  • Afternoon snack by the restaurant.
  • In the afternoon, join another scheduled tour. For example, a hike to observe capybaras, the giant anteater, or greater rheas up close.

On one of the nights during your stay, the night safari takes place after dinner. With the help of experienced local guides and a 4WD truck, this tour offers the chance to spot nocturnal wildlife and observe its behaviour. On a clear night, it is also possible to admire many constellations and the Milky Way.

Final Morning in the Pantanal and Return to Campo Grande

  • All sightseeing mentioned is subject to weather conditions, political conditions, and traffic conditions in the destination. Any sightseeing missed due to natural calamities or weather conditions is non-refundable.

What to bring

  • Long-sleeve shirts, breathable T-shirts, light and loose pants, shorts, and a bathing suit.
  • Sunscreen, insect repellent, medicine, and any exceptional food.
  • Raincoat, flashlight, small backpack, binoculars, hat, and sunglasses.
  • Flip-flops and good tennis shoes suitable for mud and wet conditions.
  • Sometimes, it can be very chilly in the Pantanal, especially on rainy days or during the rainy season, so it is better to bring a fleece and good socks.
  • Bugs are more attracted to dark-coloured fabrics.

Know before you go

  • Changing the programmed trip in and out of the lodge is very difficult.
  • Depending on the flight schedule, a hotel in Campo Grande (not included) may be necessary, and it can be provided or booked.
