The itinerary

Day 01

Cotopaxi National Park and Limpiopungo Valley

  • Meet your tour guide after breakfast and board a vehicle heading south of Quito toward Cotopaxi National Park.
  • Enjoy the beautiful views of the Andes mountain range and gorgeous natural scenery along the way. Once you reach the national park, visit the Interpretation Center and Limpiopungo Lagoon.
  • Take a short hike in the surrounding Limpiopungo valley before driving ever higher into this sky-high region, stopping at the 15,800-foot (4,830-meter) Padre Rivas Refuge. Depending on your physical condition, you may continue to the glacier at 5,050 meters. Enjoy lunch at a local restaurant that offers typical Ecuadorian meals.

Day 02

Quilotoa Crater, Tigua, and Baños

  • Have breakfast at the hotel. Travel through the Avenue of the Volcanoes and pass through the small town of Pujilí.
  • Visit an indigenous local house from the "Paramos" to learn about their traditions and way of life.
  • Head to the town of Tigua, famous for its naive paintings. Continue up to Quilotoa Volcano, where you can descend to the lake inside the crater or simply walk around the crater.
  • Enjoy an unforgettable experience riding a mule or kayaking on the lake. Have lunch and continue the trip to Baños.
  • See the famous "Swing at the End of the World" at La Casa del Árbol and take in fantastic views of the gorgeous mountain landscapes.

Pailon del Diablo and Pastaza River Cable Car

  • Have breakfast at the hotel. Visit Pailon del Diablo, one of the most stunning waterfalls in Ecuador.
  • Ride a cable car over the Pastaza River and experience one of the most extraordinary sights you have ever seen, with 360-degree views of waterfalls, mountains, and beautiful landscapes. For the rest of your time, you can choose optional activities such as rock climbing, trekking, biking, and more at an extra cost.
  • Drive back to Quito after lunch.
