The itinerary

1
Day 01

Cusco to Quillabamba via Abra Malaga and Family Plantations

  • In the early morning, at around 6, your guide will pick you up from your hotel in Cusco for a scheduled departure to the town of Quillabamba.
  • Descend via the famous Abra Malaga to the "Eternal Summer" city.
  • Along the way, pass through beautiful landscapes and plantations of coffee and delicious fruits.
  • Before reaching the city of Quillabamba, stop at Maranura at a family farm with coffee and cacao plantations. A family member will take you around the farm and explain the type of work they regularly perform.
  • Have the opportunity to try seasonal fruit and learn about different plants. The visit will focus principally on the process of cacao and coffee production.
  • After this visit to the farm, participate in the traditional roasting of cacao and coffee beans.
  • At the end of this activity, enjoy a cup of hot chocolate, which you will prepare using traditional methods.
  • Then, drive to Quillabamba and arrive by 4 pm.

Day 02

Yllapani Waterfall Excursion through the High Jungle

  • After breakfast, head to an almost virgin forest, passing through picturesque villages and accompanied by the Vilcanota River. The journey takes approximately 2 hours until you reach the beginning of the Camita.
  • Pass through cultivated farms with plantations of cassava, papaya, watermelon, cacao, lemon, mandarins, and orange groves.
  • During the walk, enjoy the cool climate and views of the falls.
  • Enter a dense jungle to reach the Yllapani Waterfall, where you will be surprised by the power and majesty of this natural site. Here, you can take a bath in the wells.
  • Proceed to Pampa Concession to have lunch with one of the local families.
  • Walk through farms of cacao, fruits, oranges, bananas, papayas, and more.
  • Return to Quillabamba at 6 pm.
  • Have dinner and spend the evening walking around the city.

Day 03

Santa Teresa and Colcalmayo Hot Springs Return to Cusco

  • Early in the morning, after breakfast, drive for about 2 hours to reach Santa Teresa and enjoy the Colcalmayo hot springs.
  • Take time for a hot bath in an impressive environment of abundant vegetation next to a huge river. The hot springs of Colcalmayo are a popular destination among travellers.
  • After the relaxing bath, head back to Cusco.

Overnight stay in Cusco.
