Day 01

Dingle Peninsula and Slea Head Scenic Drive

• Get picked up from your hotel.
• Your first comfortable stop will be at Inch Strand, a 4-mile sandy beach with coffee, tea, and shop facilities.
• Your next stop will be in Dingle, where you can enjoy a walk around the town.
• Drive on to Slea Head.
• Stop at the Beehive Huts, Kilmalkedar Church and sundial, the Alphabet Stone, and the Ogham Stone.
• You can take an optional stop at Brandon Creek.
• Return to Dingle town, then continue on to Killarney.

What to bring

• Please bring your good humour and your hiking boots!
• We live in a country with four seasons in one day, even in the summer. If you plan to go for a walk, we recommend wearing layers of clothing depending on the season. In the pre-season, wear thermals and wind gear, hiking boots, and proper socks. From October to April, bring gloves and scarves.
• The weather is milder from April to September but can still be wet, so bring rain gear.

As we say in Ireland, there is no such thing as bad weather, just bad clothing. So bring your best weather gear!

Know before you go

• This tour will drive you around the Dingle Peninsula and Slea Head and back to your hotel in Killarney, or, if you want to stay in Dingle, we will drop you at your hotel in Dingle.
• It's always good to know where you're going, so look it up. Know also that we're out to give you a good time, so enjoy the tour.
• Dingle town is a lovely picturesque town with a fishing harbour and historical buildings dating back to the Middle Ages, when it was an important merchants' harbour. We drive to see the Beehive Huts following some shopping and lunch, and hear the story of Star Wars filming at Ballyferriter. We can continue to Brandon's Creek depending on our time and how our guests feel. St. Brandon is said to have left in the 7th century with his crew of brothers to discover the land we now know as America. Return to Killarney overnight. 180 km.
• Ancient cahers, which are stone forts, were once used by farmers during the period of 1000 BC-500 AD.
• Exquisite ocean views, possible whale sightings, views of the Skelligs, and some storytelling of local myths.
