Piazza del Popolo to Piazza Navona Baroque Walk
- In Piazza del Popolo, you will meet your guide and visit the Basilica of Santa Maria del Popolo. You will begin to understand the importance of the Baroque art movement and how it shaped the aesthetic of Rome.
- From Piazza di Spagna, your guide will tell you the story of the Barcaccia Fountain, which lies in the heart of the piazza at the base of the Spanish Steps. You will be introduced to the work of the famous artist Bernini before taking a short walk to see his ethereal angel sculptures in the church just across the road from his former home.
- On your way to Piazza Navona, you will pass by the iconic Palazzo Montecitorio, the seat of the Italian Chamber of Deputies. It is also an important site in the life of the artist Caravaggio, as it was nearby that he became involved in a life-altering bar fight.
- Finally, visit Piazza Navona, perhaps one of Rome's best examples of Baroque art and architecture. Your tour will draw to a close in the shadows of the Church of Sant'Agnese in Agone with Bernini's iconic Four Rivers Fountain.
