Colosseum, Palatine Hill and Roman Forum
- Meet your tour guide just outside the Colosseum, where you will be introduced to the area before making your way to the entrance. Once inside, be awestruck by the vast size of this ancient stadium where gladiators fought and died before Roman spectators. As you visit the main floor level and take in the view from the spectator seating level, your guide will describe the games and events once held in the Colosseum.
- Then head to the oldest part of Rome as you begin your climb up Palatine Hill. The site of the huts of Romulus, the first king and founder of Rome, is also where the first Emperor Augustus made his home. Atop Palatine Hill, walk through the palaces where emperors once lived and even sneak a peek at the famous Circus Maximus below, where chariot races were held.
- After taking in this imperial grandeur, follow your guide down the hill into the Roman Forum. This is where the Roman people and senators went about their daily lives. Home to temples, government offices, the senate house, and even the library, it contains the structures that made the Roman Empire both famous and prosperous.
- You will even walk in the footsteps of emperors and plebs alike as your guide leads you along the original stones of the Via Sacra, or Sacred Road, into the forum.
- The experience ends with time to ask your guide questions and get advice for the rest of your stay in Rome. With small groups of no more than 12 people, you are guaranteed a personal and engaging experience.
