Walking Through Historic and Arabic Palermo
Start in the heart of the old city center, at Quattro Canti, a square with four magnificent eighteenth-century palaces whose convex facades look down onto it.
From there, walk to Piazza Pretoria and see the fountain of the same name and the Municipal building.
After admiring this splendid piece of architecture and the treasures kept inside it, continue on to the majestic Palazzo dei Normanni by bus or taxi.
It will then be time for lunch. Take a rest and choose one of the restaurants in this area of Palermo. Try a local Palermo dish such as pasta con le sarde, then caponata, and finish with a swordfish and mint roulade.
The afternoon will be dedicated to discovering Arabic Palermo, mostly concentrated in the Kalsa quarter of the city, formerly known by the Arabic name of "al-halisah", meaning "the elected one".
Visit the wonderful Museo delle Marionette nearby, close to Piazza Santo Spirito, which you can walk to from Palazzo Abatellis.
