Munich City Highlights Walking Tour
- Meet your tour guide at your hotel and visit the following sites:
- Marienplatz, the city's most famous central square.
- Viktualienmarkt, a daily food market and square in the centre of Munich, developed from an original farmers' market into a famous market for gourmets.
- Hofbräuhaus, a beer hall in Munich, was initially built in 1589 by Bavarian Duke Maximilian I.
- Max Joseph Square and the Opera House.
- Odeonsplatz, a large square in central Munich, was developed in the early 19th century by Leo von Klenze.
- Feldherrnhalle, a monumental loggia, was built to honour the tradition of the Bavarian Army. In 1923, it was the site of the brief battle that ended Hitler's Beer Hall Putsch.
- Theatine Church and Our Dear Lady's Cathedral.
- Hofgarten, a famous garden, was built in 1613-1617 by Maximilian I, Elector of Bavaria, in the style of an Italian Renaissance garden.
