The itinerary

Day 01

San Jerónimo Tlacochahuaya, Teotitlán del Valle and Tlacolula

Pick up from the airport and transfer to the hotel.
Start the tour at 8:30 am and drive 40 minutes from the city to reach the first stop.
Visit San Jerónimo Tlacochahuaya, a Baroque-style temple built in the 16th century, valued for its carving and artistic decoration, especially the image of San Jerónimo, the patron saint of the town.
Head to Teotitlán del Valle. Its inhabitants produce fine textiles on traditional pedal looms, dyed naturally and featuring pre-Hispanic and contemporary designs.
In Teotitlán del Valle, visit the home workshop of a traditional candlemaker who is recognized as one of the Grand Masters of Oaxaca Folk Art.
Meet the Master Painter and learn about his paintings and techniques, including the use of brushes, fingers, and sweeping hand strokes dipped in paint, as well as beeswax works in oil paint tinted with the same natural dyes.
Go to Tlacolula Village and stroll through its extraordinary Sunday tianguis. Get to know the vast gastronomy of the region.
See the Temple of the Assumption and marvel at one of the greatest jewels of Mexican Baroque art.
Admire the historic 18th-century tubular organ in the Baroque style.
Move to the large maguey plantations in the countryside and learn about the many varieties of agave plants.

Day 02

San Bartolo Coyotepec, San Martín Tilcajete and Santo Tomás Jalieza

Visit San Bartolo Coyotepec and see how the brilliant finishes of this century-old tradition, together with innovative designs of great quality and fine detail, make the black clay pieces of Coyotepec some of the most beautiful crafts in the state.
Go to San Martín Tilcajete. Noble copal wood comes to life in the wise hands of the artisans of Tilcajete, who, through the intricate shapes and designs of the polychrome alebrijes, challenge the limits of imagination and creativity.
Head to Santo Tomás Jalieza, where the gentle beauty of daily life and the centuries-old Zapotec heritage shine in the colors, shapes, and designs of the textiles that the women of this community make on the waist loom.
Move to San Antonino Castillo Velasco and see the multicolored silks and cotton.
Stop by Ocotlán de Morelos. Beauty and strength come together in each piece of the unique cutlery of Ocotlán, in whose powerful blades you can sense the intensity of the fire and the tradition that has forged them.
