Tuscany Highlights from Florence via Pisa, Chianti, San Gimignano and Siena
08.30 am: Departure from Florence or its vicinity.
09.30 am: Travel through the beautiful Tuscan countryside as you approach Pisa, admiring the Apennines mountains and the beautiful white marble quarries where Michelangelo loved to personally select the best marble blocks, as he did to sculpt David. Visit Piazza dei Miracoli and see the Leaning Tower, the Cathedral, the Baptistery, the Monumental Cemetery, and the historic University. You will also visit the typical market.
10.30 am: Depart Pisa for the Chianti wine region, driving along the Tuscan hills where you can see different types of vineyards and olive groves. See the village, the birthplace of Bocelli, and his house, then continue up the hills of Chianti to arrive in the San Gimignano area.
12.00 pm: Arrive in the San Gimignano area and visit an organic winery, where you will stop for a typical Tuscan lunch and wine tasting at an organic wine farm in Chianti. Tastings include Vernaccia white wine, Chianti Classico, Chianti Riserva, Brunello from Montalcino, Supertuscan, extra virgin olive oil, truffle oil, and Vinsanto with Cantuccini.
01.30 pm: Visit San Gimignano, the unique medieval city of towers. The town is known for its beautifully preserved medieval towers, with 14 still standing out of the 72 originally built in the 13th century.
03.00 pm: Drive along the Tuscan hills to Siena. Visit Piazza del Campo and see the Cathedral, the Baptistery, and the bell tower.
04.30 pm: Arrival at Monteriggioni.
05.00 pm: Return to Florence, with the tour ending by 6.00 pm, but only after making a stop at Piazzale Michelangelo for a panoramic view of Florence.
