Rainbow Mountain and Red Valley Adventure
- Your tour guide will pick you up at 5:00 am from your hotel. We will board our private van and travel to the town of Cusipata. During the journey, we will pass through different villages and enjoy the incredible views of the Peruvian Andes. The drive takes about 2 hours. Cusco sits at 3300 m / 11,300 ft, while the trailhead, Phulawasipata, is at 4200 m / 14,300 ft.
- Upon arrival in Cusipata, we will stop to enjoy a delicious breakfast and pick up anything necessary for the hike. After this short break, we will continue for approximately 50 minutes, taking in the landscapes, the mysterious mountains, and the deep valleys.
- We then arrive at Phullawasipata, where the hike begins. From here, you will walk uphill for about two hours until you reach Rainbow Mountain.
- As you climb to over 5100 metres above sea level, you will see glacial peaks, red mountains, rocky hills, and traditional llamas and alpacas grazing along the valley. Once you reach the top of the mountain at 5038 masl, you can enjoy breathtaking views of the Andes and the Andean fauna. All the mountains surrounding this area are red, with stunning views of the valleys and the mysterious Rainbow Mountain. There will be enough time to take pictures and videos.
- Afterwards, we will begin the descent, taking a detour towards the Red Valley. Its name comes from the earth's unique pigmentation, with an intense reddish colour caused by abundant minerals. This route is even more special because we may be one of the only groups on it. The walk lasts between 1 and 1.5 hours to reach Phullawasipata, where our transport will be waiting to take us to enjoy a delicious lunch in Cusipata.
- Later, we will return to Cusco. We will arrive in the city at 4:00 pm and drop you off at your hotel.
Trip ends.
