2-Day Jebel Toubkal Trek from Marrakech via Imlil and Sidi Chamarouch

Pick up from your hotel in Marrakech.

Transfer to the little village of Imlil.

Head along the Mizane Valley, passing the village of Aremd and continuing on to Sidi Chamarouch.

Continue east and cross the flood plains, following mule tracks up into the high rocky cliffs above the valley.

Cross the river and arrive at the pastoral shrine of Sidi Chamarouch, which attracts both tourists and pilgrims.

Climb steadily, snaking and zigzagging your way up to the snowline and the refuge at 3206 m.

Spend the night at camp.

Go to the summit of Jebel Toubkal, the highest peak in North Africa.

Ascend the south cirque, crossing the stream above the refuge. The walking is relatively straightforward, but the scenery and the altitude will make the going quite difficult in parts.

See the vistas across the surrounding landscape.

Enjoy the views in every direction, from the Marrakesh Plain to the High Atlas in the north and the Anti-Atlas and the Sahara.

Return down the mountain and head back towards Imlil.

Transfer back to Marrakech.
