Quilotoa Lagoon and Andean Communities
Enjoy a wonderful journey to one of the most impressive volcanoes in the western Andes, known as Quilotoa or Quiru Toa, which means "The Princess Tooth". This is a fantastic drive through stunning mountain scenery, with stops along the way to visit local Andean communities.
You will travel along the spectacular 'Avenue of Volcanoes', passing beneath its towering peaks and stopping in a village of the Paramos community and in the painters' town of Tigua. There, you'll explore a local home, learn about daily life, and admire their art. Finally, you will visit the lagoon inside Quilotoa Volcano, where you can choose to hike down to the lagoon or simply admire it from the viewpoint. After the hike, you can also return by mule ride all the way to the viewpoint. At this point, you will enjoy a nice typical lunch at an Indigenous restaurant famous for its potato soup.
At the end of the day, we return to Quito.
