The hike starts at Parque Lage, a park covered with Atlantic Rainforest, with a beautiful and important old mansion and many century-old palm trees. The ascent lasts about two and a half hours.
The Christ the Redeemer statue, at the top of Corcovado Mountain (710 m / 2330 ft), is located in the first sector of Tijuca National Park. From up there, the view is very rewarding, as it is considered one of Rio's most privileged belvederes.

Wear light clothes and hiking shoes, and bring a small backpack with water, snacks, mosquito repellent, sunscreen, a cap or hat, sunglasses, and money for tickets and extras.
