Hike Through Serra dos Órgãos National Park
Serra dos Órgãos National Park is famous for its spectacular rock formations, and its highest peak is Pedra do Sino (Bell Stone), at 2275 m / 7465 ft. To get there, you start the hike from the Teresópolis entrance, around 1:30 hours by car and 100 km from Rio.
The ascent takes no more than 4 hours, and the trail is 11 km / 6.9 miles one way. There is plenty of freshwater and waterfalls along the path, and the two waterfalls on the way are good stopping options.
From above, the view is simply wonderful and lets you see the main landmarks of the region, such as Dedo de Deus, Garrafão, and Escalavrado, as well as Guanabara Bay in Rio de Janeiro and the Atlantic Ocean.
