7-Day Zagros Mountain Trek from Ahvaz with Nomad Migration Experience

• Take the early morning flight to Ahvaz and enjoy a pick-up from the airport.

• After breakfast, make a short visit to Ahvaz and the Karoon River with your Iranian tour guide.

• Drive to Haft-Tappeh, an excavation site consisting of dozens of hills, and Tchogha-Zanbil, a ziggurat from the Elamite domination era.

• In the afternoon, tour Shushtar's historical watermills and have lunch at the traditional Mostofi Museum and Restaurant.

Stay overnight in Shushtar.

• Drive to Negin Bridge and Shimbar Waterfall in the morning. Have lunch in a local home, which is the last point where you will have electricity.

• If time allows, visit Dezpart Steps.

• In the afternoon, go on a 3-4-hour hike to reach the Nomads' black tent in Mt. Zagros. Under a starry sky, relish a hot meal and a cosy tent camp to gather your strength for the next day, the day of Kuch (Migration).

• Take in the spectacular view of the flock wandering around the surrounding green pastures. Today is the day of Migration, a great day for the Nomads. For 3 days, you accompany them in their epic migration through the Zagros mountain ranges. During these 3 days, you will complete an overall 42 km of hiking. Flexibility is key, since there is no fixed plan due to the Nomads' flexible routine. While moving behind the flock through the Zagros mountainous regions, do not forget to savour the scenic beauty of the area - a view you will never forget. You will be surrounded by imposing mountains or oak trees, with the sound of sheep bells in your ears. Take photos and soak up the view.

• In the afternoon, when the Nomads stop moving and set up the black tent, you will have plenty of quiet time to enjoy the spectacular surroundings.

• At night, a cool sleep under the starry sky in the lower mountain temperatures will be especially enjoyable. You will never forget the authentic nomadic lifestyle you experience while doing Kuch.

• Say goodbye to the Nomads and continue your expedition to the amazing green village of Khouye. After 3 days of migration with the Nomads, a comfortable, cosy village house will be a perfect lodge.

• Here, you are rewarded with vast fruit gardens and wonderful old village houses. You will also enjoy a fabulous view of the surrounding mountains from the village.

Stay in the village for the night.

• Walk through the village after breakfast.

• Bid farewell to your host family and head to the amazing historical stepped village of Sar Agha Seyyed. Here, you will have the chance to appreciate the views of the old village houses, where the yard of one is the roof of another. Zagros has always been the highest and hardest part of each nomadic migration. For thousands of years, Nomads have stopped in this village on their way to summer or winter pastures.

• Hike for 15 minutes to visit a salt mine near the village.

• Continue on the road to Chelgerd, where you will stay in a hotel.

• Proceed to Koohrang Spring, the next incredible destination. It is the biggest spring in Iran, which passengers rarely visit due to the exposed nature of the place and the rough road.

• For the night, return to the hotel.

• Reward yourself with the stunning views of Dimeh Spring and the plain of Koohrang's reversed tulips.

• Continue to Shahr-e Kord and Isfahan.
