Day 01

Arrival in Cusco and City Exploration

  • Arrive in Cusco, where your Peruvian tour guide will pick you up and transfer you to your hotel. It is recommended that you take some time to rest and acclimatize to the altitude of Cusco, which sits at around 3,400 m or 11,200 ft above sea level.

  • In the afternoon, at around 13:30, a bus will pick you up and take you around northern Cusco, where you will visit ancient Inca and pre-Inca constructions such as Sacsayhuaman, Kenko, Puca Pucara, and Tambomachay.

  • Explore the city center with its pre-Inca, Inca, and colonial streets, visit the Inca temple "Koricancha" (the Sun's Temple), and finally the Cathedral in the main square.

  • Take a walk through the city to get an idea of the many different options in this cosmopolitan destination, full of museums, shops, markets, restaurants, and, of course, some of the best places to spend the night.

Day 02

Sacred Valley, Pisac, and Ollantaytambo to Aguas Calientes

  • Be ready to leave the hotel at 8:00 am and travel to the Sacred Valley of the Incas, a tranquil oasis of cultural, historical, and agricultural richness just 45 minutes from Cusco. This is where the Incas once built important cities such as Pisac and Ollantaytambo.

  • Take in the beautiful Andean landscape throughout the day.

  • Make your first stop at a typical handicraft market in Pisac, famous for its beautiful handicrafts that delight thousands of visitors every year.

  • Continue to the impressive archaeological park of Pisac, including ornate palaces and temples, as well as magnificent agricultural terraces in the highlands.

  • A delicious buffet lunch will be waiting for you in Urubamba at Muña Restaurant.

  • Proceed through the Sacred Valley to Ollantaytambo to examine its Inca ruins. It is the second most important archaeological site after Machu Picchu.

  • After the tour, your guide will leave you at the train station so you can board the train to Aguas Calientes (Machupicchu).

  • Upon arrival, transfer to the hotel, where the tour guide will contact you to give you the final recommendations for your tour the following morning.

Day 03

Guided Tour of Machu Picchu

  • Start your tour of Machu Picchu in the early hours of the day by taking the bus up to the Machu Picchu Citadel. Embark on a guided tour of approximately 2.5 hours, with enough time to contemplate the amazing scenery.

  • Explore Intiwatana (the Sun's Connection Shrine), the Condor Temple, the Three Windows Temple, the Andean terraces, and other places of interest.

  • Roam around the archaeological complex, capture these incredible memories with your camera, and feel and appreciate the energy and peacefulness of this sacred place.

  • In the afternoon, return to town for lunch, then take the train back to Ollantaytambo or Poroy station, from where you will return to Cusco by bus.

  • Enjoy an overnight stay at your hotel in Cusco.

Optional: For those who like more action, there is an option to take the challenging, unguided hike to the top of Wayna Picchu - the young mountain. Prior booking is necessary, as only 400 tickets are sold daily, and from the top you will have the best view of the site. This hike is highly recommended for people who are in the right physical condition, as it truly offers unparalleled views of Machu Picchu.
