Padua Landmarks Walking Tour

  • Start with a walk through the picturesque streets, arriving at the Scrovegni's Chapel, home to Giotto's masterpiece. The lives of Jesus and the Virgin Mary are told through Giotto's newly created style of painting, based on narration and emotion, in one of the first attempts to depict feelings, nature, and people in a fresco.
  • Continue to the Church of the Eremitani to admire one of the first works by the young Andrea Mantegna. Attached to the church is an ancient monastery that today houses the municipal art gallery.
  • Wander with your Italian guide through the historic area of the city and visit the 13th-century Palace of Reason, located between Erbe and Frutta Squares, as well as Signori Square and the University of Padua, where Galileo taught for almost 20 years.
  • Visit the extraordinary Basilica of St. Anthony, just a few minutes from the squares. St. Anthony, a Portuguese priest and Franciscan friar, asked to be buried in the original small church dedicated to the Virgin Mary. Thousands of visitors travel to Padua each year to honour his tomb and admire the masterpieces of Donatello and Giotto.
  • Travel back to your hotel after the tour.
